At first time, I turn off the engine when I washed my car. But some reason, the engine can not start again. So, the station worker told me: you may keep the engine on, just put the handle on Neutral. As the recommendation, I did it for many times.
Last week, my engine check light is on. I took my car to the dealer. After engine check (cost $400). They told me that the oil tank is leak, and fuel pump need to be changed. The cost will be up to $1400. I asked what the reason is. The technician said: “because the engine sucks into water during automatic car washing. By my opinion: you’d better chose wash the car manually next time.”
Hopefully, you won’t make same mistake as me again. It’s too expensive.
